This year we are pleased to offer two different musical performers at Pagan Pride Day: Danny Ocean and Violet.
Danny Ocean is from the eastern Kentucky area, and was an active member of his high school chorus and chamber singers program; Danny became the only person from Belfry High School to become an All-State Vocalist. He has studied music under the teachings of renowned composer/professor Dr. Henry Leck, and has spent the last several years playing folk rock, indie, and punk music. Around April of 2010, Daniel began playing acoustic music which he thought looked very promising. and so far, has proven to be.
Violet is a classically trained pianist, playing the piano since childhood. Her musical influences range from the Allman Brothers to Scott Joplin. Raised on Broadway and The Beatles, Violet is constantly inspired by singer/songwriters such as Elton John, Sara Bareilles, AJ Croce and Carole King. Known to sing and play in many a garage around town, and a regular at open mics such as LexJam, Violet hopes to share her love of music everytime she plays.
For a listing of all the different types of activities we have to offer at our event, check out The Day's Highlights.
Come join us in celebration of our 8th Annual Lexington-Bluegrass Pagan Pride Day on Saturday, September 6th, 2014. This family-friendly event will be held at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza, at N. Limestone and Main Street, in downtown Lexington, KY 40507 from 11 am to 5 pm.
There is no entry fee, however you are asked to share in the harvest by bringing a nonperishable food item to benefit the Catholic Action Center. All ages are welcome to attend this free event, which will have vendors/merchants, workshops (such as “Ask A Witch”, for those who may have questions about Paganism), diviners, food and rituals. We are proud to announce musical entertainers Danny Ocean and Violet this year. You can also join the fun during the day by bringing your drums and joining in drum circles.
